Eau de Minthe has redefined the classic men's fougère fragrance. The backbone of the fougère fragrance consists of lavender, geranium, moss, and coumarin (a synthetic ingredient). Some fragrance molecules intersect in mint and geranium, which is why Diptyque chose mint as the key note for its new perfume. Consistent in its inconsistency within fragrance compositions, Diptyque introduced rose oxide in place of lavender in this typical "fougère" composition, creating a small olfactory incident. This twist resulted in a surprising floral finish and a feminine note in a classic men's composition.
