Frederic Malle Angelique Sous La Pluie
While walking through a garden, Jean-Claude Ellena, the perfumer who calls himself a “composer of scents”, picked an angelica leaf and slipped it into his pocket. Upon returning to his laboratory, he immediately noted several fragrant substances with which he could paint this warm, soft, spicy scent, much like an artist sketching a future painting. The key olfactory lines of the fragrance began to emerge through angelica seed, cedar, juniper… What remained was to add the nuances that would convey emotion through scent. The result is a delicate, fragile fragrance that melds seamlessly with the skin.
The composition was so subtle and so distinctive that it did not meet the demands of the perfume market, until Frédéric Malle founded Éditions de Parfums. Angelica Under the Rain was perfectly suited to the new perfume house. Seductive in a quiet, understated way, seemingly simple and spontaneous yet meticulously composed, it became a true expression of Ellena’s olfactory minimalism.
