Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentree
Eau de Cologne has always been defined by a composition dominated by citrus notes. The formula devised in the 17th century by Italian monks has been recreated countless times, while revolutionary changes were introduced by Edmond Roudnitska with Eau Sauvage for Dior and by Jean-Claude Ellena with Bvlgari’s Eau au Thé Vert, which set new standards for colognes.
After that, Ellena felt the urge to say more on the subject and to develop a new refreshing–bitter theme. To achieve this, he needed an entirely new substance, so in the Monique Rémy laboratory he developed a new bitter orange (Bigarade) essence obtained through molecular distillation. The fragrance contains 40% of this essence, complemented by cardamom, rose, hay, and cedar.
Perfumer: Jean-Claude Ellena
