Matiere Premiere Falcon Leather
It is that scent radiating from a falconer's glove warmed by the sun; a fragrance as smooth as a mirror, soft and powerful at the same time. Birch tar from Finland, a high-quality plant material that is very smoky and almost bitter, was used in creating this perfume. It immediately evokes the scent of leather, as it has been used for tanning throughout history. The notes of birch tar are enhanced from the very start by saffron, which enriches the birch. Two important aspects of the leather notes are highlighted by other ingredients: the smooth and firm raw leather is emphasized by labdanum from Andalusia, while the soft "antelope" leather is accentuated by benzoin.
- I had to create a leather-scented perfume for the Matiere Premiere collection. In the region of Grasse in France, where I was born, local aromatic plants are used in the process of tanning leather when making gloves. The scented leather gloves from this area are of high quality and are highly valued – their production marked the beginning of perfumery in France - says the creator and perfumer of the Matiere Premiere brand, Aurélien Guichard.
