Melancoffee
The ritual of enjoying coffee - its taste and aroma - can be shared with a close friend or savored in solitude, says Filip Galen, Training Manager at Metropoliten perfumery and the creator of its first in-house fragrance.
Over years of working with niche perfumes, Filip witnessed the profound connection between scent and emotion. At one point, he wished to capture such an emotion in a fragrance of his own.
“I wanted to illustrate the feeling of comfortable melancholy, which I often associate with the ritual of drinking coffee. When I’m with a dear person, it’s the conversations about life – moments of joy becoming even brighter, and heavy ones feeling lighter. When I’m alone, in my favorite café with coffee and headphones, it’s precious time for peace and pleasure,” explains Filip, describing the inspiration behind Melancoffee, for which he selected the finest aromatic ingredients: vetiver from Haiti, nutmeg from India, natural benzoin…
Each bottle is wrapped in a unique, handcrafted pouch made from authentic coffee sacks once used to store beans on plantations in South America - still carrying the subtle aroma of the coffee they once held.
