Memo Paris Madurai
A memory of India, bathed in the opulent and airy scent of Sambac Jasmine, with touches of Turmeric and Peach.
Legend has it that the name of the sacred southern Indian city Madurai comes from a drop of divine nectar that fell from the hair of the god Shiva. The spectacular world of this colorful city, according to the mythical tale, was born from a single fragrant drop. And what could that drop have smelled like? Perhaps — Jasmine.
The absolute of Indian Sambac Jasmine, green and fresh in tone, bathed in Indian Turmeric oil, radiates in Madurai like the Hindu temple Meenakshi itself. Add more jasmine — this time from Egypt, sunny and warm, to awaken the spirit; Australian Sandalwood and Calendula Oil, believed by the peoples around the Indian Ocean to make mythical beings laugh. A touch of French Sage, the sweetness of Peach, and the full beauty of jasmine bursts into the fragrance.
Perfumer Gaël Montero describes his inspiration:
“I created Madurai remembering a beautiful journey through Southern India. I especially recall one morning: I’m sitting on a small terrace, sipping tea. All my senses are alert. Through the warm air comes the scent of flowers, the intrigue of spices, the sweetness of mango. The rich and airy Sambac Jasmine releases its fragrance from the garlands offered as gifts, while the creamy scent of sandalwood envelops the temples.”
Together, Clara and Gaël Montero, the founders of MEMO, have created a scented travel album — a collection of olfactory memories from their journeys.
