DR JART+
If we were to freely translate the meaning embedded in the brand name, we would say DR Joins ART.
Dr does not mean that the brand was founded by a doctor – nor a dermatologist – but the approach is as if it were: recognized cosmetic ingredients and technologies are used, and the formulas are approached with artistic passion.
Dr.Jart+ was founded in 2005 in Seoul by architect Leeo (Chin Wook) Lee, after he discovered a certain blemish balm – a multifunctional cream similar to liquid foundation, available only at dermatology clinics. He decided to make this potential hybrid of skincare and makeup – which we now globally know as BB cream – available to the wider public through collaboration with innovative laboratories.
BB cream became a hit first in Korea, and later worldwide, changing the way we think about what a cream can and should do. After that, he began creating a dermo-cosmetic skincare line that would combine advanced ingredients and technologies for effective care. Dr.Jart+ has ingredient complexes after which some of the most celebrated Dr.Jart+ skincare lines are named:
- Ceramidin complex contains 5 types of ceramides that strengthen the skin barrier
- Cicapair complex with Asian centella (also known as tiger grass or cica) and peptides soothes and strengthens the skin barrier, reducing redness
- Korean masks – whether single-use or in jars – are created to address specific skincare concerns.
