A Journey to Other Worlds
D.S. & Durga fragrances are fragments of half-forgotten myths and imaginary landscapes that beg to be explored.
The brand was launched in 2008 by a married couple, David Seth Moltz and Kavi Ahuja, pioneers of Brooklyn’s "do-it-yourself" movement. A musician and an architect by profession, they discovered a shared passion for scents and began learning. They turned everything they loved into fragrant stories—cowboy legends, landscapes, heroes from Russian novels, folk songs, and more—hand-packing them in their apartment and selling them in local boutiques, and later in their store.
Soon, the brand outgrew Brooklyn, and then New York, stepping into the grand world of perfumery.
Today, D.S. & Durga has an exclusive fragrance collection for Barney’s, New York’s luxury department store, and a nomination for the FIFI fragrance awards. Yet, their loyalty to the original creative principles remains.
In this duo, David is the perfumer, the true "nose," who smells everything around him, reading the fragrant messages that he will incorporate as fragments in the perfumes.
Kavi (or Durga, as David calls her) is the brand’s designer. She thinks about angles, light, shadow, and texture, seeking simplicity in form and functionality in the fragrance sphere.
D.S. & Durga perfumes should be listened to like music: repeatedly, over and over again, each time delving deeper into the notes and chords. A good perfume is a keyhole that opens the door to other worlds, where your experiences mix with others’. Isn't that exciting?
