The story behind the creation of the Profumum Roma brand takes us back to a time when Celestino Durante, a knife sharpener from the small suburb of Sant’Elena Sannita, returned from World War II. He packed his modest belongings and, in search of a better life, moved to Rome. Along with his knife sharpener, razors, and scissors, his shop soon began offering shaving soaps, hair lotions, and colognes. Years went by, and the descendants of the knife sharpener from Sant’Elena are now among the most important perfume makers in the "Eternal City," forever proud of their heritage.
In 1996, Celestino’s grandchildren, Giuseppe, Luciana, Maria, and Felice Durante, founded the perfume brand Profumum Roma. When you hold one of their fragrances in your hands, you are also holding a piece of this story. If you visit the Sant’Elena Sannita area and walk past the large bronze statue resembling a knife sharpener, take a moment to pause, for this is where their roots lie.
