Prestige Built Over Centuries
The rich history of Trudon begins in the mid-17th century, deeply intertwined with the history and cultural heritage of France. Trudon candles illuminated the court of Louis XIV, the Sun King, and today they continue to enrich homes worldwide with their golden light and sophisticated fragrances.
Claude Trudon, a wax merchant, arrived in Paris in 1643 and became the owner of a candle shop on Saint-Honoré Street. Trudon was hardworking and skilled: his candles produced no soot and did not flicker, quickly gaining a good reputation. They soon began to light the palaces of the nobility, cathedrals, and eventually, Versailles! By 1719, the workshop became the official supplier to the court under the name Royal Manufacture, as the only wax producer ever to receive this title. The words Part of Regique Laborant – The bees work for God and the King engraved on a stone plaque remain the brand's motto to this day.
The manufactory survived the revolution, Napoleon, wars – and even electrification! At the 1889 World Expo in Paris, the Trudon family’s successors, the Carrière brothers, were awarded a gold medal for innovations in candle production.
Since 2017, when a new era began for the brand, Trudon has focused on the creation of fragrant decorative candles, transforming this craft into an art.
And the bees?
Since 2018, Trudon launched a program to preserve the European black bee and biodiversity in the Normandy region, within the protected Perche Natural Park, which it continues to support.
